How the win chances are calculated
Ratings. Every club has an Elo rating built from game results since 2018. Before a game the home side’s chance is 1 ÷ (1 + 10−(home rating − visitor rating + 50) ÷ 400): playing at home is worth 50 rating points, so between equal clubs the home side wins 57.1% of games; at a neutral site (the Grey Cup) nobody gets it. After each game both ratings move by 40 × (result − chance), more after a rout and less after a field-goal game. Between seasons each rating keeps 30% of its distance from average (rosters change).
Fair odds are 1 ÷ chance: the price with no bookmaker margin. A sportsbook pays less than this on both sides; compare its price with the fair one before you think about a bet, and remember that a rating knows only past results – not injuries, weather or who starts at quarterback.
How good is the model
We replayed the 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 regular seasons: before each of the 405 games the ratings gave the home side a chance, then learned from the result. Lower log-loss and Brier scores are better.
| Forecast | Log-loss | Brier | Winner picked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Our ratings (Elo) | 0.626 | 0.217 | 66.9% |
| Home side at last season’s home win rate | 0.698 | 0.251 | 53.8% |
| Coin flip (50/50) | 0.693 | 0.249 | 50.0% |
Hold-out test: with settings fitted on 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024 only, the 2025 forecasts scored 0.695 against 0.693 for a coin flip – no better. Single CFL games are close to a coin flip more often than the ratings suggest; treat the chances as rough.
This season, for real: the settings were fixed before 2026; over its 81 regular-season games so far the forecasts scored a log-loss of 0.620 (coin flip 0.693) and the favourite won 59%.
| We gave the home side | Games | Home side won |
|---|---|---|
| 0%–35% (on average 28%) | 54 | 27% |
| 35%–45% (on average 40%) | 52 | 37% |
| 45%–55% (on average 50%) | 82 | 49% |
| 55%–65% (on average 60%) | 87 | 65% |
| 65%–75% (on average 70%) | 70 | 66% |
| 75%–100% (on average 81%) | 60 | 78% |

How to read a game row
- Teams and kickoffEach row shows the home and away team. The kickoff time is shown in your own time zone.
- Score or upcomingA finished game shows the final score. A game not played yet is marked upcoming.
- Fair chanceEach team in an upcoming game gets a fair win chance. It comes from team ratings built on past results, with a home edge.
- Fair priceThe fair chance is turned into a fair price in decimal and American odds.
- Compare a bookmaker's priceEnter a bookmaker's price. The tool shows its margin and the difference from the fair chance.
From fair chance to fair price
Fair decimal price = 1 ÷ fair chance
Example: For example, a fair chance of 50.0% gives a fair price of 2.00, or +100 in American odds.
Fair chance vs bookmaker's price
Fair chance (this page)
- Built only from past CFL results and home field.
- No margin: the two chances add up exactly, for example 50.0% + 50.0%.
- Changes only when new results come in.
- Knows nothing about injuries, weather or lineups.
Bookmaker's price
- Includes a margin, so the two sides add up to more.
- For example, −110 on both sides: 52.4% + 52.4% = 104.8%.
- The line moves with news, injuries and money bet.
- Check it with the margin calculator.
What moves a CFL team rating
| Factor | In the model? | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Game result | Yes | A win raises the rating, a loss lowers it |
| Home field | Yes | The home team gets an edge before kickoff |
| Injuries | No | Not counted |
| Weather | No | Not counted |
| Quarterback changes | No | Not counted |
A fair chance is not a tip. The model knows only past results – check team news yourself.

Questions
Where can I see CFL scores today?
In the games list at the top of this page. It reads the CFL's public data and updates automatically. If the data is too old, the numbers are hidden.
What time zone are CFL kickoff times in?
Your own. Each kickoff is shown in your time zone, so you do not need to convert it.
Is the fair win chance a prediction or a pick?
No. It is a number from past results and home field only. It does not know injuries, weather or quarterback changes and does not tell you who will win.
Can a CFL game end in a tie?
Under the CFL rule book, no. Regular-season games use 2-point converts after two mini-games. Playoff and Grey Cup games add mini-games until a winner is determined.
Does the CFL schedule include playoff games?
Yes. Playoff games appear in the same list. For the bracket and Grey Cup chances, see CFL playoffs.
