56.2%fair chance team A goes through (fair price 1.78); team B 43.8% (2.28)

After taking out the 5.9% margin: A wins in 60 minutes 45.0%, tie 22.5%, B 32.6%. A tie goes to overtime and, if needed, a shootout – you set how often A wins that part.

Rules behind it

Quarterfinals: 1A-4B, 2A-3B, 2B-3A, 1B-4A (number = group place). Semifinals: The highest ranked team will play the lowest ranked team (based on preliminary-round ranking).

Playoff games tied after 60 minutes: sudden-death overtime of up to 10 minutes, 3 skaters a side, then a shootout. Gold medal game: sudden-death 3-on-3 overtime periods until a goal. So a knockout game always has a winner, while a 60-minute bet has three outcomes.

Chance to go through = A in 60 minutes + tie × your overtime share. The margin is removed in proportion first.

60-minute 3-way vs to-win

60-minute 3-way (1X2)

  • Only regulation counts – see the 60-minute line
  • Three outcomes: team A, tie, team B
  • For example: +140 / +320 / +170
  • A tie loses both team bets

To win, incl. OT and shootout

  • Settled on the final result, no tie
  • Preliminary round: 5-minute 3-on-3 sudden death, then shootout
  • Playoff and bronze games: 10-minute 3-on-3 sudden death, then shootout
  • Gold medal game: sudden-death 3-on-3 periods until a goal

Turning 3-way prices into to-win

To-win chance = fair regulation win chance + fair tie chance × share of overtime wins

Example: 40.6% + 23.2% × 50% = 52.3% – a fair to-win price of −109, if overtime is an even split.
