CFL odds and Grey Cup betting explained

Enter a sample CFL line in the calculator to see what each bet pays and the chance each price implies. Below it: Grey Cup game facts and CFL overtime rules.

Example

The 113th Grey Cup: Sunday, November 15, 2026, McMahon Stadium, Calgary. In a Grey Cup game a tie after regulation goes to overtime until there is a winner.

1.79fair moneyline for team A (55.7% to win the Cup); team B 2.26 (44.3%)

The 3-way prices hold a 5.7% margin. Without it: A in regulation 52.6%, tie 6.3%, B 41.1%. A tie goes to overtime, and team A wins that part 50% of the time by your setting.

A moneyline of 1.70 on team A pays less than this fair price: −$0.05 per $1 on average, by these numbers.

Why the two prices differ

CFL rules: Tie after regulation: overtime mini-game, each team scrimmages from the opponent's 35-yard line; TD convert must be a 2-point attempt from the 3-yard line; if still tied, a second mini-game at the opposite end. In a playoff or Grey Cup game: additional mini-games, alternating ends, until a winner is determined (no tie). So a moneyline (“to win the game”) has two outcomes, while a 3-way bet settles at the end of regulation and can lose to a tie.

Fair moneyline chance of A = A in regulation + tie × A’s overtime share, after the margin is removed in proportion. Fair price = 1 ÷ chance.

How to read a CFL line

  1. Find the favouriteThe moneyline with a minus sign is the favourite. The one with a plus sign is the underdog. See moneyline explained.
  2. Read the moneylineFor example, a $10.00 bet at +150 returns $25.00 if that team wins: $15.00 profit plus the stake.
  3. Read the spreadThe favourite must win by more than the points. The underdog covers by winning or losing by less. See point spread.
  4. Read the totalPick over or under the combined points of both teams. See over/under explained.
  5. Spot the marginTwo sides at −110 add up to 104.8%. The part above a fair book is the operator's margin.
  6. Check overtime termsRead whether the bet counts overtime points before you place it. The rules of each product decide this.

From price to implied chance

Implied chance = 1 ÷ decimal odds

Example: +150 is 2.50 in decimal odds: 1 ÷ 2.50 = 40.0%.

Questions

How do CFL odds work?

Each price shows the payout and an implied chance. For example, +150 equals 2.50: a $10.00 bet returns $25.00, and the implied chance is 40.0%. More in sports betting basics.
